Xcel Strategies, Inc., Hosting a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the New Xcel Effingham County Skilled Trades Mobile Training Unit

Xcel Strategies, Inc., is proud to announce the commissioning of the newly constructed and outfitted Xcel Effingham County Skilled Trades Mobile Training Unit (MTU).  Xcel Strategies, Inc., will host a ribbon cutting ceremony at Crossroads Academy in Rincon, GA, on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at 1pm.  RSVP to David@xceltoday.com if you plan to attend.

The Xcel Effingham County Skilled Trades MTU is the newest addition to the fleet of mobile training units fielded by Xcel Strategies, Inc., in support of the mission of “Fueling Young People with Purpose.” Xcel fulfills this mission by training students 15-25 years old in Soft Skills and Job Skills and by introducing them to careers in the skilled trades.  The MTU will serve as a mobile classroom providing a hands-on component to understanding basic skills and entry level opportunities in trades such as plumbing, electrical, construction, manufacturing, and more.  Xcel serves students during the school year at Crossroads Academy, Effingham County High School, South Effingham High School, and Bloomingdale Classical Conversations.  The MTU will also be utilized to train middle school and high school students at the Xcel Summer Skills Camp in partnership with the Effingham YMCA.

The Xcel Effingham County Skilled Trades MTU is made possible by the support of a team of industry and community partners.  The Title Sponsor of the Effingham MTU is Georgia-Pacific Savannah River Mill.  One of the newest supporters of Xcel, Georgia-Pacific has long been an integral part of the Effingham community, and this is the latest of many investments made in equipping students to engage and build their futures.  Ever since Xcel began serving students in Rincon, the Effingham County Industrial Development Authority (ECIDA) has led the charge to raise support for the Effingham MTU.  The ECIDA supports Xcel as a key component in developing the workforce needed to sustain a healthy relationship with industry.  A faithful sponsor of the Xcel Summer Skills Camp in Effingham County, Thompson and Thompson Service Group has also joined Xcel in bringing the Effingham MTU into operation.  Gateway Church in Bloomingdale contributed equipment to outfit the trailer for training.

Xcel Strategies, Inc., is a 501(c)3 non-profit mentoring network based in Savannah, Georgia.  Since its inception in 2012, Xcel has served young people by equipping them with the soft skills (life skills) to envision, plan, and build success and by connecting them with the opportunities and employers that will help them to fulfill their career and life ambitions.  The COVID pandemic created an opportunity for Xcel to specialize in introducing students to the skilled trades via the Mobile Training Unit platform, which allowed Xcel to continue training in an outdoor setting.  As the MTU program has developed, Xcel has expanded its operations from Chatham County to Bryan, Effingham, and Paulding Counties in Georgia, as well as Palm Beach County in Florida.  Many educational and industry partners have seen not only the need to educate and inform students of the opportunities that exist in the skilled trades, but also the need to mentor in the soft skills in such a way that builds the necessary habits to create success.  Xcel partners with schools, businesses, and youth organizations to meet this need.  For more information, go to xceltoday.com or follow @xcelmentoring on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
